Over a decade ago, we started a brand called switchbox with one thing in mind: switches don't have to be boring. They can be part of the interior, something you actually wanted to have in your home.

switchbox grew quickly, with loyal customers across Europe, fantastic partnerships with electricians, architects, interior and set designers, and press coverage in the likes of ELLE Decoration, Sköna Hem and Residence. Eventually, we sold the company to new owners who took it in a different direction, with, quite frankly, less focus on the customer experience and the things that had made the brand special.

And amazingly, the category hasn't changed all that much. Homes are still dominated by boring plastic white switches. There are more choices now, but they tend to be either ludicrously expensive or just a little bit...off.

So here we are, ready to shake things up in the world of the humble light switch once again.

Altrèse is a family company based just outside Stockholm, with a decidedly international flavour. After decades of living, working and travelling all over the world, we've picked up a few ideas along the way. Scandinavian simplicity is still a big influence, but we're not particularly constrained by it.

We've had years to think about what's next. Altrèse is more focused, more ambitious and a lot bolder, with new products, new possibilities and more ways for you to create something genuinely your own already in the works.

We're doing it our way. And we're here to stay.
